UI Designer
We are seeking an experienced user interface designer who will help create the user interface for a new kind of network and a class of valuable applications that improve building performance by saving energy, extending equipment life and improving labor efficiency. The ideal candidate will have 3+ years GUI design experience and a large subset of the following skills and qualities:
Duties
• Will need to work with business users to gather requirements around usability
• Responsible for creating Mockups, wireframes etc. and will work closely with the dev team
• The user experience expert
• Research and prioritize user requirements and functional requirements
• Prototype navigation models and interaction designs for demonstration and usability testing
• Document functional requirements
• Conducting usability tests with end-users and domain experts
• Championing UCD principles to developers, product managers and executives
• Planning and performing usability research; includes project planning, conducting evaluations, analyzing results, documenting issues, and proposing recommendations
Technical Skills/Experience
• Experience with agile development methods and tools (i.e. XP, Scrum, etc.).
• 3+ years of GUI development and deployment.
• HTML
• FLASH/FLEX/ActionScript.
• Exposure to Ruby on Rails, MySQL, Object-Oriented Analysis and Design, Design Patterns, Refactoring.
• Successful release of multiple web sites.

• Go getter - self motivated
• Good communication skills
• Can do attitude - enjoys new challenges

Outsmart Power Systems is a start-up with first round financing in place. We are looking to build our team in order to advance our breakthrough technology to a marketable, saleable product. Outsmart technology provides comprehensive information to manage, measure, diagnose and control power within a residential or commercial building. It requires little or no change in behavior/methodologies for electricians and builders.
Duties
• Embedded Analog Hardware Design
• Discrete circuit design for signal filtering/conditioning
• PCB layout for medium-voltage (<277Vac), EMC, and low-noise
• Embedded switch-mode power supply design (<1W), including custom approaches
• UL Process & Certification of suite of products
• Embedded Digital Circuit Design
• Prototype manufacturing & test
• Use of CAD tools for schematic entry & PCB layout
• Use of lab equipment for test & verification of circuit designs
• High-Volume Hardware Production
• Cost reduction techniques/ Transfer to far-east manufacturing
• ASIC Design Development/Management
• Ability to produce ASIC Technical Specification based on discrete designs/concepts
• Development, implementation, and acceptance testing utilizing FPGAs/VHDL
• Management of ASIC development from specification to silicon
Technical Skills/Experience
• Ability to manage & delegate circuit design tasks
• Effective use of CAD tools
• Primary responsibility for successfully completed projects
• Brought complex, high-volume electronics product to market
• Software/Firmware Programming
• Working knowledge of embedded C programming
• Working knowledge of Linux C++ programming
• Ability to work in a team environment
• System-level approach to problem-solving
